Optometrist and Orthoptics Educator

In this role, you will be responsible for meeting annual targets set by the Head of Department (HOD) and contributing to a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students.
You will teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy, develop your own teaching and learning skills, and contribute to the planning of teaching programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Teaching Excellence: Employ innovative teaching strategies and facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
- Critical Thinking and Debate: Challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop students' critical discourse and rational thinking skills.
- Student Supervision: Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements where appropriate.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance in the subject for internal evaluation purposes.
- Mentorship: Execute mentoring of 15-20 students as part of the Riphah Mentoring Program.
- Technology Integration: Update data in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other required software as necessary.
- Ethical Values: Link Islamic and ethical values with teaching practices and participate in departmental and university committees as required.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that teaching content and methods align with RIU's mission and respond to issues related to subordinates and student needs.
- Attendance Monitoring: Monitor and check student attendance in classes, labs, and practicals.
- Research and Publication: Disseminate research findings through publications or other media and seek practical applications of research outcomes.
- Research Leadership: Conduct independent research, act as principal investigator and project leader, and supervise the work of others in research teams and projects when required.
