
Advanced Patient Care Specialist

The role of a Staff Nurse involves providing direct patient care throughout the shift in a calm, courteous and tactful manner.
Nurses are responsible for ensuring the quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments.
Responsibilities:
- Handover & takeover incoming / outgoing shift unit / ward information related to patients, including introductions, patient files, medication charts, investigation reports, intake and output chart etc.
- Provide direct patient care throughout the shift.
- Affirm quality of care by conforming to therapeutic standards.
- Resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multi-disciplinary team strategies.
- Prepare medication requisitions and administer medication.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies & protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Facilitate doctors / consultants on their rounds in the unit / ward and record instructions.
- Assist doctors with any procedure they may need to perform.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing care.
- Carry out doctors' orders as prescribed.
- Evaluate medical supply requirements and ensure proper storage and availability.
- Check and record blood sugar levels.
- Draw blood and perform other lab procedures on patients.
- Monitor vital signs, particularly of pre-operative and post-operative patients.
- Perform IV cannulation of patients.
- Notify/report incidents related to patients, staff, visitors and any untoward occurrences in a timely manner.
- Supervise Nurse Aids, Student Nurses, etc.
- Perform delegated tasks as directed by the Ward incharge, Nursing Coordinator.

- Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality patient care.
- Knowledge of infection control practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documents.
