Operating Room Technician

This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of surgical procedures in the operating room. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and correctly identifying patients scheduled for surgery, checking patients scheduled for surgery in the Operating Room and ensuring proper take over of patients' files, completing all per-operative documentation pertaining to patient's surgery, and ensuring that all specimens are removed during surgery, correctly labeled and dispatched for necessary investigation as advised by the surgeon.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive and correctly identify patients scheduled for surgical procedures.
  • Check patients scheduled for surgery in the Operating Room and ensure proper take over of patients' files.
  • Complete all per-operative documentation pertaining to patient's surgery.
  • Ensure that all specimens are removed during surgery, correctly labeled and dispatched for necessary investigation as advised by the surgeon.
  • Scrub for designated cases while displaying competence for different areas as per the scope of services of the hospital.
  • Assist in the safe transportation of patients before and after surgery.
  • Timely report of any problem with equipment to the concerned for rectification.
  • Assist in preoperative patient preparation and coordinate with the scheduler in the smooth running of the OR list.
Requirements:
  • MATRICULATION WITH PRE-MEDICAL BACKGROUND AND INTERMEDIATE IN ANY DISCIPLINE.
  • COMPLETED DIPLOMA IN OT TECHNICIAN FROM A REPUTABLE INSTITUTION.
  • PREFERABLY ONE YEAR OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.
  • GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF BASIC ANATOMY/PHYSIOLOGY AND OR TERMINOLOGIES, AND ABILITY TO IDENTIFY SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS.
  • GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF STERILIZATION AND DISINFECTION PROCEDURES.
  • GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND ABILITY TO HANDLE WORK PRESSURE.
  • WILLINGNESS TO WORK IN SHIFT DUTIES AND AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS.
  • COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT REFERENCE CHECKS WILL BE CONDUCTED.
