About the Role

This role is responsible for ensuring that each patient's identification is verified according to the donor registration requisition slip and checking the donor's status through a donor questionnaire to guarantee that they meet the requirements for collecting correct samples daily.

  • Accurate and gentle vein puncture procedures must be performed to collect blood, prepare and store blood components according to donor phlebotomy requirements daily to provide quality service.
  • Blood units must be re-availed into stock after cross match cancellation and records of blood donors' consent forms must be maintained.
  • Samples must be packed according to requirements and handed over to donors with normal screening results.
  • Quarantine components must be shifted to stock refrigerators and freezers as per laboratory protocols and inventory of blood donor areas must be maintained.
  • Daily quality control and maintenance of Hemocue instruments must be ensured.
  • Daily water bath cleaning, calibration of blood shakers and cleaning of cryofuges must also be ensured.
