Protecting Ecosystems: Environmental Conservation Specialist

This role is responsible for leading the implementation of sustainability policies and procedures on-site.

• A bachelor's degree in environmental science, ecology, or a related field is required. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in biodiversity or ecological roles is also necessary, preferably within mining, infrastructure, or construction sectors.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with flora and fauna trapping, handling, and relocation techniques, strong knowledge of local and regional species and ecosystems, and familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will oversee environmental studies, budgets, presentations, and contribute to strategic meetings developing and implementing the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) according to national and local regulations.

You will assist with the implementation of the Biodiversity Management and Action Plan on-site, ensuring alignment with regulatory and project commitments.

Key responsibilities include coordinating and managing flora and fauna relocation and trapping activities, planning and conducting ecological field surveys, developing and maintaining comprehensive biodiversity records and reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental approvals, legislation, and permits concerning biodiversity.

The successful candidate will provide training and guidance to construction teams on biodiversity protection measures, buffer zones, and ecological sensitivities, and liaise with environmental consultants, regulators, and stakeholders on biodiversity performance and outcomes.
