HIV Program Specialist

The position of HIV Program Specialist is a critical role in supporting the implementation of HIV programs and projects within the context of Maternal, Newborn, Child Health (MNCH) initiatives. This specialist will work closely with government counterparts, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to promote HIV-related issues, particularly in areas such as Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), pediatric HIV care, and community-based HIV programs.

Key responsibilities include providing technical guidance and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, and UN system partners on interpretation, application, and understanding of UNICEF policies, strategies, processes, and best practices on HIV-related issues. The specialist will also participate in discussions with national partners and other stakeholders to promote HIV-related issues, draft policy papers, briefs, and other strategic HIV program materials, and contribute to the preparation of communication and information materials for HIV programming.

The HIV Program Specialist will support the development, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all HIV-related activities within MNCH. A key focus area will be following up on all activities related to the outbreak in Larkana Districts, with frequent visits to the field. The incumbent may also be requested to support other field offices in the area of HIV programming.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must have an advanced university degree in medicine, public health, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or other health-related sciences. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public HIV/AIDS programming, planning, and management, as well as relevant areas of PMTCT, pediatric HIV care, community-based HIV programs at national/international levels, and health emergency/humanitarian preparedness is required.
