Network Architect

The role of an IP Network Specialist involves designing and implementing data networks, encompassing core routers, aggregation switches, data center infrastructure, VoIP systems, security solutions, transport networks, and video distribution networks.

This position requires technical leadership in network architecture planning, vendor selection, capital budget allocation, and future technology planning. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical guidance on network design, implementation, and administration with a focus on EVPN core networks.
• Designing and implementing network architectures to support large-scale IP services deployment.
• Developing design specifications, technical requirements, diagrams, and documentation for successful data service delivery.
• Managing IP core routers, including configuration, software upgrades, and capacity planning.
• Staying up-to-date with new technologies to ensure the delivery of advanced products and services.
• Monitoring and managing IP data networks for capacity and performance needs, recognizing enhancements required before customer impact.
• Providing technical support for managed business customers, including designing new customer networks, research, quotes for new projects, and remote/on-site technical assistance.

Requirements:

• An associate's degree in computer science or a related field is mandatory, while a bachelor's degree in computer science is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• A minimum of five years of experience in IP network operations, WAN and LAN technologies, and protocols.
• Possession of a current Cisco CCNA certificate or industry equivalents.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet networks, including 802.1ad, MPLS, EVPN, segment routing, and G.8032.
• A strong understanding of telecom access technologies such as XGS and G-PON, Carrier Ethernet standards, and good working knowledge of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi 5,6,6e, etc.).
• Understanding of VoIP applications and QoS is preferred.
