Logistics Operations Specialist

The role of a transportation coordinator involves serving as the primary point of contact for clients and drivers, ensuring timely delivery of goods. Key responsibilities include managing schedules, monitoring routes, and resolving any operational issues that may arise.
- Schedule Management: Coordinating truck driver assignments based on shipment specifications and customer preferences. Creating effective routes to maximize delivery windows, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize costs. Modifying schedules as needed to account for unforeseen delays, altered traffic conditions, or shifting delivery priorities. Maintaining regular communication with drivers to provide guidance, information, and support during the transportation process. Interacting with customers, vendors, and other relevant parties to address questions, resolve disputes, and ensure client satisfaction. Notifying relevant parties of any incidents, delays, or disruptions, and implementing backup plans to mitigate the impact on delivery dates.
- Record-keeping and Documentation: Ensuring accurate recording of cargo details, including collection and delivery times, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and any issues or delays encountered. Preparing and maintaining bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery receipts in accordance with business standards and legal requirements.
- Problem-solving: Identifying operational problems and proactively implementing solutions. Managing emergency scenarios, such as mechanical failures, collisions, or adverse weather conditions, by organizing backup plans and providing assistance to drivers when necessary.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring adherence to applicable regulations, including hours of service, weight restrictions, and safety standards. Monitoring driver performance to promote safe driving habits and prevent infractions or accidents.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborating with departments such as customer service, logistics, and warehousing to optimize procedures, enhance productivity, and improve overall service quality. Providing guidance and direction to drivers by addressing their concerns, helping them plan routes, and fostering efficient team communication.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; further education or training in transportation management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
Key qualifications include:
- A solid background in logistics or dispatching, ideally in the transportation sector.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including dispatching software, GPS navigation systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Full-time, part-time, contract, or fresher positions are available. The expected work schedule is 40 hours per week.
The ability to commute to Lahore is required, and relocation to Lahore before starting work is also mandatory.
