Key Responsibilities

The primary role of a Blood Bank Specialist involves ensuring the quality and safety of blood products for patient care. This encompasses performing technical functions related to blood collection, processing, testing, storage, and distribution.

  • Perform precise blood grouping, cross-matching, antibody screening, and compatibility testing to ensure accurate matching between donors and recipients.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of blood and blood products by monitoring stock and ordering supplies as required.
  • Adhere to established protocols and regulatory requirements for collecting, labeling, storing, and documenting blood and blood components.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain blood bank equipment and instruments, performing routine maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner, providing critical information for patient care decisions.
