Job Title: Wildlife Conservation Professional

 

A. Project Management

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior conservation professionals to ensure the effective delivery of project activities related to wildlife surveys, species assessments, and conservation initiatives.

  • Provide administrative support in the implementation of project activities as per the agreed project plan, ensuring alignment with global biodiversity goals.
  • Maintain close liaison with district-level stakeholders, vendors, and communities to facilitate project success.
  • Attend project meetings, ensure a list of participants, invitations for meetings, meeting minutes, and organize project reports.
  • Coordinate with staff of government agencies and conservation organizations to solicit their cooperation and support in implementing the project.
  • Assist in maintaining project budgets and tracking expenditures in compliance with donor guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining records of project hirings, both HR and administrative.
  • Coordinate with project staff, including field staff, and consultants to ensure timely delivery of work plans and quality outputs.
  • Follow up with relevant stakeholders at the district level to effectively implement the project.
  • Engage stakeholders, conduct consultations, and organize workshops on wildlife assessment, surveys, and species monitoring.
  • Participate in data collection, field surveys, and species assessments, adhering to standardized methodologies for scientific outputs.
  • Prepare technical, financial, and progress reports for submission to donors, in line with project requirements.
  • Implement a communication plan for disseminating key findings and raising awareness about species conservation.
  • Contribute to surveys, assessments, data processing, and reporting for the development of the Red Data Book.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
B. Project/Programme Development

The successful candidate will assist in designing and implementing new wildlife conservation projects aligned with global biodiversity goals.

  • Develop funding proposals for complementary initiatives, including species conservation, ecological research, and policy advocacy.
  • Facilitate cross-programme learning, integrating themes such as ecosystem-based conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable natural resource management.
C. Other Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to IUCN's One Programme Approach, ensuring integration across different conservation initiatives.

  • Strengthen institutional relationships with government agencies, conservation organizations, and IUCN Members.
  • Represent IUCN in meetings, workshops, and technical forums related to wildlife conservation and species assessments at the district level.
  • Support knowledge-sharing by contributing to publications, reports, and policy briefs.
  • Communicate IUCN's branding and conservation messaging effectively in all project-related activities.
