Child Cancer Care Specialist
About the RoleThis is a key position in our team, requiring a skilled and compassionate nurse to navigate the complexities of pediatric hematology oncology care. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, experience working with pediatric patients, and knowledge of clinical research processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Child Cancer Care Specialist will be responsible for:
- Referral Management
- Develop and maintain accurate referral forms, ensuring they are readily available to healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with consultants to identify suitable patients for referral and complete referral forms with necessary information.
- Submit referral forms for review and approval, and share them electronically with the referral centre on the same day.
- Act as a point of contact for patients, explaining the referral process and addressing their questions and concerns.
- Work closely with consultants and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient referral processing and effective patient care.
- Maintain relationships with outreach and SCC staff, identifying and addressing socio-economic issues that may impact patient care.
- Assist with collecting missing data for referred patients as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of referrals and communications.
- Ensure timely completion of referral paperwork according to organizational guidelines.
- Contribute to reporting and tracking referral outcomes.
- Monitor referral processes for quality and safety standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to best practices development.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Registered Nurse (BScN) degree with a current nursing license.
- Experience working with pediatric oncology patients and clinical research documents.
- GCP training is advantageous but not essential.
