Bureau Chief

As a bureau chief, you will work closely with other newsroom managers to oversee the development of budgets and handle human resources functions related to training, hiring, and staff management. You must use your judgment and experience to set the news agenda according to guidelines provided by publication, station, or media conglomerate. It is essential to maintain journalistic integrity, accuracy, and fairness while covering local, national, or international news.

• Coordinate and assign news coverage to reporters, photographers, videographers, editors, producers, and other members of the news team.
• Employ expertise to develop professional contacts with subject-matter experts, government officials, and other important figures to obtain news information.

The ideal candidate for this position should have at least five years of experience as a broadcast, print, and/or online journalist, including news reporting, editing, and production. Strong reporting skills, excellent news writing and editing skills, and good news judgment are also essential.
