Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective maintenance and upkeep of university facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of university buildings, facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing repairs, electrical work, HVAC system checks, and minor carpentry.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to address issues and minimize disruptions.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues reported by university staff and students.
  • Contractor Coordination: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements for future reference.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for various university assets.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Hazard Identification: Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to maintain a safe environment for all occupants.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Procurement: Monitor stock levels and initiate the procurement of necessary items to support maintenance operations.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with other members of the Facilities Management team to coordinate maintenance activities with ongoing university events and operations.
  • Custodial Support: Collaborate with custodial staff to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.
