Product Development Manager

A key player in the development of innovative products, driving product vision to be agile and competitive in the industry.

The Product Development Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the development and commercialization of assigned products in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This includes overseeing the transition from design to samples and production, ensuring manufacturability, material standards, development timelines, and cost targets are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the development process between Headquarters and Tier 1 factories, prioritizing create to value and product integrity.
  • Providing technical expertise to ensure effective collaboration between HQ teams (Design, Marketing, Brand Operations) and external parties (factory Development/Commercialization & Production).
  • Supervising the implementation of new technology in development and engineering.
  • Influencing HQ and external parties, driving change aligned with industry standards.

Key Relationships:

  • Global Sourcing: LO Manufacturing team, Costing, Material, Planning, Product Quality, Product Testing & Compliance, E&MI.
  • Global Brands: HQ Product Teams (Design, Marketing, Brand Operations).
  • Global Operations.
  • Other Global Functions: Social and Environmental Affairs, Government Affairs, etc.
  • External stakeholders: Sourcing Suppliers (Tier1 factory development, commercialization heads & teams, sample room supervisors; Tier2/Tier3 suppliers).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of product engineering, development, and commercialization processes and timelines.
  • Ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, product testing, and evaluation; understanding of material types.
  • Ability to read shell patterns, 2D and 3D blueprints, BOM/CBD, FCT, etc.
  • Understanding of costing principles and ability to analyze product cost breakdowns.
  • Creative mindset.
  • Strong influencing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
