A Physical Therapist is responsible for assisting patients in achieving their physical and functional goals. This involves developing and delivering individualized physical therapy treatment programs that cater to the unique needs of each patient.
The therapist will conduct assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them. Perceptual psychosocial activities and instrumental activities of daily living are also essential components of this role.
Liaising with medical personnel in daily ward rounds and with peers in the outpatient rehabilitation department requires effective communication skills. Educating and advising patients and their families regarding the diagnosed condition, the treatment plan, the expected prognosis, and the short and long-term goals is also necessary.
The ideal candidate should have a DPT in Physical Therapy from a recognized university and a minimum of one year's experience as a Physical Therapist or one year of traineeship, preferably in a hospital. Strong knowledge of physical therapy theory, techniques, and equipment is essential.
