The role of a pharmacist involves ensuring the correct use of medicinal products and devices to maximize clinical effects while minimizing adverse events.
Responsibilities:- Inventory management: Monitor and maintain pharmacy store inventories, including MDR-TB and Hepatitis programs. Report daily on supplies, issued quantities, and remaining stock to management.
- System updates: Manage new item setups in the system upon approval from senior management.
- Procurement: Prepare and forward purchase requisitions for approval as required. Coordinate with the procurement department for supply arrangement and with accounts for documentation and billing purposes.
- Good reception and issue practices: Ensure all protocols are followed, documentation is maintained, systems are updated, and relevant reports are provided to management.
- Temperature monitoring: Ensure accurate temperature monitoring and related documentation is maintained.
- Non-formulary items: Forward requisitions for non-formulary or unavailable items and arrange for inpatient supplies when received.
- KPI reporting: Provide regular updates and monthly KPI reports to management.
- Training and presentations: Prepare and present topics for continuing medical education (CMEs).
- Task delegation and monitoring: Delegate tasks to interns, technicians, and assistants. Provide guidance on best practices.
- Monthly stock reports: Prepare and submit monthly reports to management detailing fast-moving, slow-moving, short-expiry, expired, broken, and damaged items.
