Senior Data Engineer

The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing and optimizing complex data architectures that drive business success. This position requires a deep technical expertise in SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks.

This includes:

  • Designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, ETL processes and data integration solutions using SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks.
  • Architecting and implementing robust data models and solutions that support the organization's reporting and analytics needs, ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Maintaining SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) while transitioning legacy reporting to modern platforms such as Power BI.
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather data requirements and translate them into technical solutions that drive business insights.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, integrity and quality by implementing effective data governance, security and compliance measures.
  • Developing and supporting high-performance querying solutions using Delta Lake and serverless SQL environments.
  • Implementing version control and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Git or other similar tools.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks, optimizing existing data infrastructure to improve efficiency and scalability.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a strong focus on SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks or MS Fabric.
  • Proficient in SQL development, including stored procedures, query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Extensive experience with ETL development and data integration from a range of sources including SQL, DB2, Mysql, Azure Blob and APIs.
  • Expertise in designing and optimizing data models.
  • Hands-on experience with SSRS and the ability to modernize legacy reporting by transitioning to Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Azure core services, including Logic Apps, Azure Functions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data governance and best security practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Atlassian JIRA for managing tasks and workflows.
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and deployment automation tools.
  • Proven ability to architect scalable data solutions that drive business objectives and operational efficiencies.
