Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our backend engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for building high-scale distributed systems.

About the Role
  • Lead a team of software engineers in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and efficient backend systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical visions and implement product roadmaps.
  • Drive the execution of projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timely and successful releases.
  • Hire, manage, and develop a diverse team of highly qualified engineers, providing expert guidance and coaching.
  • Mentor engineers to improve their technical skills and contribute to the growth of the team.
Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of software engineers in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and efficient backend systems.
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical visions and implement product roadmaps.
  3. Project Execution: Drive the execution of projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timely and successful releases.
  4. Talent Development: Hire, manage, and develop a diverse team of highly qualified engineers, providing expert guidance and coaching.
  5. Mentorship: Mentor engineers to improve their technical skills and contribute to the growth of the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related domains.
  • 3+ years of experience managing 10+ engineers.
  • Experience working with high-throughput and low-latency systems.
  • Experience building high-scale distributed systems.
  • Technical depth and breadth in agile product development, distributed systems, infrastructure, cloud computing, build tools, frontend engineering, mobile, QA.
  • Ability to perform architectural work, including the development of technical designs and definition of requirements based on an explanation of business issues experienced by internal/external customers and vendors.
  • Proven track record as a nimble and proactive thinker and doer, who thrives in an environment that demands excellence.
  • A high degree of comfort with short release cycles, owning the full software lifecycle, and deep experience working on a product for public consumption.
  • Passion for continuous experimentation and learning, coupled with a desire to make things run faster and better.
  • Demonstrated success in hiring, managing, motivating, and promoting skilled engineers.
  • An opinion on and a solid understanding of what makes for a strong, healthy, and productive engineering culture.
  • A track record as a strong individual contributor earlier in your career, with continued interest in rolling up your sleeves and pitching in with coding when needed.
