The Role of the Procurement Expert for Active Networks

The Procurement Expert for Active Networks is responsible for procuring Active Networks (RAN & CORE) Hardware/Software/Services. This involves having a deep understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G Networks and being able to visualize the future of the category. The Procurement Expert will be required to plan and formulate procurement requirements from different stakeholders, analyze requests, collaborate with relevant stakeholders, negotiate with vendors, foster healthy relationships, and resolve any queries/issues within specified timelines.

The Category Expert will be responsible for formulating needs of the category in relation to market trends, new technology, and team skillset development in line with the Procurement transformation objectives. This involves developing a comprehensive cost optimization plan for the category, including a plan to rationalize and optimize the existing supplier base, developing synergies through consolidation of business needs and scope across multiple business units, and developing a growth mindset in the team for support to business and self-identification of improvement areas in their respective domain.

The Procurement Master Plan in this domain involves preparing a detailed view of the Procurement Master Plan (Sourcing Calendar) with clear working of budget, baseline, and targeted costs. This includes tracking of projects/tasks on daily, weekly, and monthly basis on a digital portal/dashboard.

The Category Expert will work alongside the Category Manager on Major Procurement projects in a calendar year apart from operational work in the category. This requires collaboration with the rest of the team to achieve required targets while working in a project environment. Good collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is necessary.

The Vendor Relationship Management Program in the Active Domain involves scheduling meetings on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis with strategic suppliers along with preparation of presentations and taking key notes from the session. The Category Expert will evaluate and increase participating vendors in the VRM program.

Developing Vendor Assessment and Scoring criteria involve planning, developing, and executing the project (complete RFP/Q Lifecycle). This includes preparation of commercial evaluation (TCO) and QES comprising techno-commercial, BOQ Alignments against Frame Agreements, price verifications and negotiations, preparing of Dashboard and KPI reporting on a weekly basis, and keeping record of savings as per assigned ambitions in the organization.

This role requires building strong relationships with End Users and translating their requirements into procurement plans. Budget analysis with the team, preparing reports inclusive of spending/saving, sharing with management, and explaining rationale behind it are also essential. Thorough market research, preparing monthly and YTD spend & saving reports, conducting an interactive sourcing process along with end users and external stakeholders, and achieving savings target as mentioned in the agreed tender mandate are necessary skills for the Category Expert.
