Lead Clinical Practitioner

The role of a Senior Medical Officer is pivotal in the effective management of emergency patients and admitted patients.

• Assisting medical officers in emergency departments during peak workload hours to ensure timely management of emergency patients.
• Conducting regular checks on all high-risk patients, ensuring their condition is stable and providing necessary care.
• Performing ward rounds of admitted patients, monitoring their progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
• Documenting the current status of ante-natal patients in hospital information systems.
• Consulting with concerned specialists if admitted patients develop new onset problems, and documenting the advice received in hospital records.
• Performing scheduled and emergency surgeries, involving specialists in case of complications during or after surgery.
• Responding to acute life-threatening emergencies by consulting the on-call specialist and contacting department heads in case of communication issues.
• Attending departmental meetings to discuss patient care and hospital operations.
• Supervising skilled birth attendants with vaginal births after cesarean sections, expulsions, and abortion procedures.
• Performing cesarean sections, emergency postpartum hemorrhage control, manual removal of placenta, and evacuation procedures.
