Leadership Role

The Area Education Manager – Bhera is responsible for the academic leadership and management of schools in their region. This includes managing a cohort of principals, improving student success rates, fee collection, and daily fleet management. They are also accountable for ensuring area administrators perform administrative duties and manage academic data analysis, verification, and preservation.

Relationship Management

This role requires maintaining communication with community members to encourage resource utilization that supports schools as needed. The Area Education Manager must ensure strong relationships between principals and parents through regular meetings when necessary. They will also maintain liaison with donors on education-related activities and communicate with other area managers to foster collaborative working environments, exchange feedback, and share best practices for regional development.

Principal Quality Enhancement

The Area Education Manager's primary goal is to strengthen the principal cohort to improve overall quality. This involves working closely with the recruitment manager to hire quality local principals, participating in assessment centers, and ensuring participation in principal quality improvement visits. Regular academic feedback is provided through appraisals, and continuous improvement is monitored throughout the year. Support is also provided through performance improvement plans where necessary.

Teacher Quality Improvement

To enhance teacher quality, the Area Education Manager focuses on strengthening the teacher cohort (content and pedagogy). This involves collaborating with principals to recruit quality local teachers, especially in challenging locations. Teacher transfers and promotion recommendations are approved, and at least one classroom observation per visit is conducted to ensure consistent feedback.

School Improvement Planning

Action plans are developed for struggling schools, implementing and following up on improvements. Strategies for area improvement are planned and developed, linking them to whole-school and area development.
