Agro Quality Assurance Specialist

About the Role

This position is responsible for overseeing Agro QA labs at various locations, ensuring they adhere to PepsiCo standards and protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, laboratory management, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Cold store, Process, and Operations QA teams regarding potato testing, results sharing, and production runs.
  • Develop and implement productivity and quality improvement initiatives from harvesting to consumption.
  • Support Agro teams in selecting and finalizing new geography by providing analytical support for seed stock.
  • Work on BIC storage facility models to enhance data visibility regarding tracking of storage parameters, including temperature, humidity, and CO2.
  • Cultivate relationships with growers to educate them on variety-specific agronomy and best practices regarding solids improvement and defects reduction.
  • Establish and monitor E2E seed quality programs covering physical aspects of seed quality testing.
  • Coordinate the purchase of new lab equipment for Agro QA labs as needed.
  • Evaluate periodic inspections of cold stores to ensure compliance with QFS standards.
  • Implement 5S programs, quality, and food safety standards at plant and 3P potato labs.
  • Maintain lab PGP compliance on potato testing procedures at receiving and consumption ends.
  • Assess Leno bags health status and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyze potato quality through detailed sampling of storage stock as per defined frequencies.
  • Manage duty plans for Laboratory teams, ensuring work-life balance and thorough coverage across shifts.
  • Track team performance and develop development plans accordingly.
  • Ensure timely communication of compliance status regarding stock and vehicle health status during storage seasons.
  • Perform internal and external calibrations (slicers, probe thermometer, specific gravity meter) as per PepsiCo quality system guidelines.
  • Oversee weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance/calibrations of lab instruments.
  • Provide timely support during AIB, FSSC, and Halal audits to achieve zero nonconformances.
  • Conduct variety-specific testing of heavy metals & pesticides analysis to monitor MRLs as per local laws.
  • Lead Agro crops quality monitoring systems through YSI trend analysis projects on potato crops from sowing to consumption.
  • Develop capability development agendas for Agro and QA staff on potato testing and quality management.
  • Cultivate effective partnerships with R&D and supply chain teams on raw material development projects.
  • Track farmer performance regarding material quality issues and develop future action plans for improvements.
  • Liaise with Agro field teams to address quality challenges for potatoes during growing seasons.
  • Implement Global GAP initiatives in fields for shortlisted growers across regions.
