Job Title: Optometry Professor

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Optometrist to join our team as an Optometry Professor.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, developing their own teaching skills, and contributing to the planning of teaching programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a high-quality teaching environment by setting, marking, and assessing work and examinations, and providing feedback to students.
  2. Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, and execute mentoring of 15 to 20 students as per the Riphah Mentoring Program.
  3. Update data in VLE and other required software as per requirements, and ensure that teaching content and methods of delivery are in accordance with RIU mission.
  4. Participate in activities of departmental and university committees as required, and supervise/random check student attendance in classes/labs/practicals.
  5. Cultivate critical discourse and rational thinking among students through innovative teaching strategies and experiential learning during lessons.

Requirements:

  • A strong academic background in Optometry or a related field, with significant experience in teaching and research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing effective teaching strategies, with a focus on student engagement and outcomes.
