Responsibilities
  • Pack and label instruments' packs and trays
  • Monitor sterilization of dressings, linen, microsurgical instrument trays, and equipment according to department policy
  • Operate and monitor washing machines, dryers, sterilizers, and other machinery in the central sterile services department
  • Assist and monitor routine quality control tests required for sterilization
  • Monitor stock levels of detergents, disinfectants, glove powder, etc., and refill as necessary
  • Replenish consumables in the parking area from the bulk store when required
  • Report malfunctioning equipment or instruments to the supervisor
  • Dispatch formulae to units as required
  • Assist Chargehand to manage workload and teach required skills to Health Care Assistants
