We are seeking an experienced professional to take on a critical role in our Operational Risk Management function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for continuously assessing risks within FCS-UwS, taking into account wider business risks, changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operational procedures and practices, organisation change and the impact of new technology.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and mitigate operational risks across various business areas, ensuring compliance with internal control standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other risk teams and influence stakeholders to complete key control monitoring programmes, enabling them to articulate their risk profile and promote accountable risk decision-making.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders on material issues relating to FCS UwS through risk governance meetings and other forums.
  • Accountable for reporting and escalating operational risks and potential losses in line with policy.
  • Analyse and validate operational risk data for further analysis and usage, contributing to the preparation of periodic risk reports.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, guidelines and processes to identify, measure, monitor, mitigate and report operational risk.
  • Represent FCS-UwS in various risk governance meetings, such as GSC CEMM and FLoD Meetings.
  • Contribute to process reviews of specific business processes or risk areas, supporting the review and approval process over third-party assessment reviews of vendors.
  • Oversee RPA risk universe and lead activities in balancing risk and change in RPA transformation.
  • Take on the role of BIRO for pan-GSC UwS, leading activities related to Cyber Security and Information Technology Risk (CITRO).
  • Ensure HSBC internal control standards are met, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

This role requires close working contact with senior management, WPB Risk functions and all business areas across UwS, as well as 2LoD and 3LoD functions.

Achieve compliance with the Group Compliance Policy by escalating identified compliance risk in liaison with relevant officers.

Support the promotion of a risk culture by facilitating risk training and maintaining knowledge of emerging best practices and international standards on risk management.
