The Purchasing Agent role involves managing the procurement of goods, including sourcing, price negotiation, transportation logistics, and product development. Key responsibilities include analyzing sales volume and market demands to create purchase orders, calculating product costs and prices to determine profit margins, ensuring product quality through sampling and customer feedback, and developing purchasing strategies to support business objectives.
Job Requirements- Minimum 2 years of food purchasing experience or training
- Bachelor's Degree in business preferred
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions
The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, with strong communications and interpersonal skills. Basic Microsoft Office proficiency is also required. Knowledge of ERP systems is a plus, and familiarity with Japanese foods/non-foods and kitchen supplies is desired.
