Senior Media Communications Specialist Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Media Communications Specialist to join our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media relations, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with key members of the print and electronic media, particularly energy and commerce reporters, to secure wide coverage of company news, events, and achievements.
  • Institutional Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with APNS, PBA, PID, MoIB, and MoE institutions.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay up-to-date with changes in APNS/PID/PBA rules and regulations, communicating regularly with officials and guiding the team when changes are announced.
  • Media Communications: Oversee media communications, including preparing articles, press kits, press releases, and other content initiatives.
  • Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison between the media and the organization to ensure accurate information is presented to the media.
  • Event Support: Supervise media relations outreach for special events, programs, and major initiatives.
  • Media Engagement: Arrange and attend media meets, dinners/lunches with media personnel on behalf of the organization.
  • Content Creation: Write pitches, backgrounder, press releases, key messages, blog posts, and articles portraying a positive image of the organization.
  • Message Development: Support developing main message points for media interviews.
  • Communication Materials: Prepare speeches, talk points, and communication materials for company spokespersons.
  • Reputation Enhancement: Secure strategic media placements to enhance corporate reputation and business goals.
  • Emergency Response: In case of emergencies or special events, lead the dissemination of timely and accurate information to external stakeholders, including the public and customers.
  • Image Promotion: Promote a favorable image of the company at important events and forums.
  • Internal Consulting: Offer internal consulting services to provide advice and guidance to other departments on matters affecting the company's public image.
  • Translation Oversight: Oversee translations of documents as needed, supervising the team to ensure guidelines are followed.
  • Media Monitoring: Collaborate with the media monitoring agency to track company/industry-related news/advertisements.
  • Communication Strategy: Develop a communication strategy aligned with our vision, mission, and business strategy, submitting it to senior management for approval.
  • Crisis Prevention: Employ a proactive approach to prevent negative news by presenting balanced viewpoints.
  • Response Preparation: Prepare and release responses/rebuttals from the company's side.
