Job Title:

Teaching and Research Professional - Anesthesia

The selected candidate will be a key member of our academic team, responsible for managing and supervising clinical and academic activities within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lecture and Teaching:
    • Deliver lectures, seminars, and clinical & practical skills small group discussions for MBBS / BDS students.
    • Evaluate and assess students according to curriculum requirements.
  • Postgraduate Training:
    • Facilitate Postgraduate trainees (FCPS and DCPS) in clinical presentations, small group discussions, case-based & problem-based teaching, journal clubs, and psychomotor skills training.
    • Prepare trainees for inter-module examinations and dissertations.
  • Departmental Management:
    • Assist the Head of Department in organizing clinical meetings and conferences.
    • Collaborate with other professional organizations.
  • Research and Development:
    • Coordinate faculty members and Postgraduate trainees in research and development through continuous education and a learning environment.
    • Assist with publication requirements as part of career development research activities.
  • Clinical Practice:
    • Convey knowledge for basic management of common patient care problems, including emergency treatment and decision-making for appropriate treatment.
    • Develop clinical and practical skills of students.
  • Examination Conduct:
    • Assist the Head of Department in conducting examinations of MBBS/ BDS students.
  • Patient Care:
    • Ensure regular OPD sessions for continuing medical care.
    • Manage/supervise new patients referred for specialist advice.
  • Ward Rounds:
    • Conduct regular clinical rounds in the ward to manage/supervise the progress and care of indoor patients.
  • Medical Procedures:
    • Conduct medical procedures in the ward under the supervision of senior consultants.
    • Develop a monitoring mechanism to ensure recommended diagnostics and investigations are carried out.
  • Specialist Advice:
    • Provide specialist advice on medical problems of patients referred from other departments.
  • Emergency Assessments:
    • Assess patients in the emergency department if required for consultancy.
  • On-Call Commitments:
    • Ensure on-call commitments after regular duty hours to provide cover for critical patients round the clock.
  • Departmental Inquiries:
    • Assist the Head of Department in departmental confidential inquiries of mortalities.
  • Staff Management:
    • Manage, supervise and train PGs/ MOs/ HOs and other paramedical staff.
    • Enhance patient management skills.
  • Duty Rota:
    • Prepare and monitor duty rota of the department, including paramedical staff.
    • Manage and resolve staff management and placement issues.
  • Hospital Liaison:
    • Maintain close liaison with hospital administration.
    • Ensure proper ward management, including patient clinical records and routine matters.
