Chief Financial Manager

The Chief Accountant will play a vital role in managing the day-to-day operations of the accounts department, working closely with the Financial Controller to achieve this goal.

• Assist the Financial Controller in overseeing financial operations, including reconciling daily postings and account adjustments as needed.
• Coordinate and reconcile party billing and member events through our CMS system, ensuring timely payment.
• Receive and track invoices, process vendor cheques, and reconcile vendor statements in a timely manner.
• Verify employee payroll and benefits, including education expenses and arrange bank transfers.
• Supervise the work of the Cost Controller to ensure seamless operations, maintaining efficient systems and procedures.
• Assist the Financial Controller in preparing monthly trial balances and resulting financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and statement of changes in financial condition, along with supporting schedules and data.
• Monitor summary reports of the monthly ledgers, including receivables, payables, bank accounts, asset accounts, and payroll accounts.
• Prepare accounting reports as necessary for dissemination to Management, providing accurate and timely information.
• Oversee member billing and collection procedures to ensure timely payment, minimizing delays and maximizing revenue.
• Monitor accounts receivable and take action according to established club policies and procedures, promoting efficient cash flow management.
• Assist the Financial Controller in preparing a full report of the year's financial operations for presentation at the Annual Meeting, showcasing achievements and progress.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements and maintenance of fixed asset ledgers, including preparation of depreciation schedules for monthly entries.
• Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure procedures align with club policies, maintaining compliance and accuracy.
• Supervise preparation of applicable tax returns and initiate payment correspondence for property tax and other taxes and insurance policies, adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Oversee finance store operations, ensuring smooth running of inventory through proper inventory procedures, minimizing stockouts and overstocking.
• Attend Finance Sub-Committee Meetings by invitation and other sub-committee meetings as required, staying informed and engaged.
• Safeguard all funds in bank accounts, ensuring revenues are properly deposited and supervise cheque drawing, maintaining financial security.
• Play a vital role in professional development and training activities for financial staff under your supervision, fostering growth and expertise.
• Assist the Financial Controller in planning and managing capital budgets and cash flow statements, making informed decisions and driving success.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is a plus).
