About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced developer to join our team as a key member in the development of innovative web-based tools for activism and community building.

The ideal candidate will have strong skills in PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle. A good understanding of SQL is essential, and experience developing and implementing open source software projects is highly desirable.

As a developer, you will work closely with clients and project managers to build and refine graphic designs for websites, convert raw images and layouts into CSS/XHTML themes, and determine appropriate architecture and technical solutions. Strong communication skills are required, as you will be engaging with colleagues and clients to provide high-value service and outside-the-box thinking.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  2. Produce project estimates during sales process, including expertise required, total number of people required, and total number of development hours required.
  3. Attend client meetings during sales process and development.
  4. Work with clients and Project Managers to build and refine graphic designs for websites.
  5. Convert raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes.
  6. Determine appropriate architecture and other technical solutions, making relevant recommendations to clients.
  7. Communicate efficiently and accurately to the Project Manager regarding any progress and/or delays.
  8. Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to clients.
  9. Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities.
  10. Be actively involved in and contribute regularly to the development community of the CMS of your choice.
  11. Develop innovative, reusable Web-based tools for activism and community building.

Requirements:

  1. BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  2. 3 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS.
  3. 2 years minimum Web programming experience, including PHP, ASP, or JSP.
  4. 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle.
  5. Development experience using extensible web authoring tools.
  6. Experience developing and implementing open source software projects.
  7. Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
  8. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
