Graphic Designer Job Description

A graphic designer creates visual elements to communicate ideas and convey messages effectively. The role involves listening to clients' needs and developing design solutions that meet their requirements.

About This Role

This job requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. You will work with a variety of media, including photography and computer-aided design (CAD), to produce high-quality designs.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Interpret client's business needs and develop concepts to suit their purpose;
  • Estimate time required to complete work and provide quotes for clients;
  • Develop design briefs by gathering information and data through research;
  • Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts;
  • Presentation of finalized ideas and concepts to clients or account managers;
  • Work with a wide range of media, including photography and CAD;
  • Proofread to produce accurate and high-quality work;
  • Contribute ideas and design artwork to the overall brief;
  • Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches;
  • Work on layouts and artworking pages ready for print;
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in new media;
  • Commission illustrators and photographers;
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as printers, copywriters, and marketers.
Skill Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tech Skills:
  • Proficiency in design programs like InDesign, QuarkXPress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3ds Max, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver, and Flash;
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly;
  • Familiarity with different file formats and workflows.
