Job Overview

The Tax Assistant role is responsible for providing comprehensive tax preparation services to clients. This includes the preparation of Self-Assessment Tax Returns, profit & loss accounts, and rental accounts. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of first draft Self-Assessment Tax Returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Development of profit & loss accounts and rental accounts for tax return purposes, showcasing expertise in financial management.
  • Effective onboarding of new clients, including maintaining client database records and fostering positive relationships.
  • Contacting HMRC in the UK regarding taxpayer records, demonstrating knowledge of tax laws and procedures.
  • Providing ad hoc assistance to the client-facing team as required, contributing to a collaborative work environment.

  • Proficiency in UK Accounting and Tax Software, including Xero, Sage, and CCH.IRIS for integrated accountancy services.
  • Strong planning, organization, and administration skills, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills, balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, adapting to changes in tax laws and regulations.
