Opportunity Overview

Pakistan Tobacco Company has an exciting opportunity for a Field Officer in Swabi


Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Procuring seed from Leaf Agronomy as per the requirement and onward distribution to farmers.
  2. Farmers' registration and arrangement for seed sowing.
  3. Periodic arrangement of growers' meetings/workshops in the area for conveying quality requirements and education to growers.
  4. Ensuring plantation of a suitable crop size in the designated area, enabling the buying team to secure volumes as per company targets.
  5. Timely finalization of seedbed, crop, and yield assessment surveys to enable management to determine actual crop size.
  6. Ensuring all sustainability initiatives, including FSM, are completed as per expectation and timelines.
  7. Offering crop extension services to contracted growers for crop improvement, safe use of agrochemicals, implementation of standard methodologies, and improved curing techniques.
  8. Following guidelines from in-charge to improve knowledge about crop husbandry practices and implement at the farmer's level.
  9. Participating in afforestation initiatives, including nursery raising, sapling distribution, and ensuring their planting as per recommendations.
  10. Selecting better species and training planting parties on post-planting care to ensure maximum survival.
  11. Conducting post-plantation surveys and maintaining records in a PC-based database.
Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with:

  1. Agriculture Graduate with 1-2 years of experience.
  2. In-depth knowledge about tobacco production, curing, and grading.
  3. Proficiency in MS Office and IT skills.
  4. Creativity in agricultural extension methods.
  5. Experience in plantation arrangements and research trial supervision.
  6. Ability to introduce standard methodologies through demonstrations.
  7. Proficiency in seedbed, plantation, and production surveys.
  8. Understanding of Environment, Health & Safety policies.
  9. Knowledge of company controls, procedures, and instructions.
  10. Awareness of competition strengths and weaknesses.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills for communication, negotiation, training, and motivation.
  12. High dedication and willingness to work in the field.
  13. Initiative-taking attitude.
