  • Serve as a thought leader for embedded design, providing guidance and expertise to team members.
  • Translate product requirements into embedded system designs, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Review and approve design concepts, component selections, and trade-off analyses to drive simulation, design calculations, margin analysis, and design process rigor.
  • Develop and review design documents and verification plans, mapping to all requirements, including key performance and reliability metrics.
  • Approve design performance to ensure it meets requirements, aligns with manufacturability and serviceability, and achieves cost/reliability targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture requirements, perform system/subsystem design, and finalize electronics design requirements.
  • Mentor and approve resolutions for technical challenges.
  • Closely collaborate with other engineering team members to deliver compelling designs that meet regulatory, safety, environmental, reliability, thermal, and interface standard compliance requirements.
  • Ensure design meets Design for eXcellence (DFx) requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of proven experience in hardware design and development, with a strong understanding of testing and manufacturing.
Proficiency Requirements:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with system, software, firmware, hardware, and electrical requirements development and validation.
  • Hands-on experience in analog, digital, and power supply design, as well as interfacing electro-mechanical and other peripherals in instrument design with sensors and control algorithms.
  • Strong knowledge of alternate design analysis, part substitution for cost-out ideas, and obsolescence management, including design analysis for quality, reliability, power consumption, timing parameters, etc.
  • Good knowledge of compliance requirements and ability to support product regulatory compliance testing, including EMC/EMI, CCC, UL, RoHS, etc.
  • Proficient in debugging instruments, such as digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience in practices for Design for Test (DFT), Design for Reliability (DFR), and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Software and Firmware Engineering principles.
  • Agility to handle multiple simultaneous projects, tasks, and programs to suit business needs.
