Project Governance Specialist

About the Role:

The Senior Portfolio Services Manager will play a critical part in supporting business success by ensuring effective portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have exceptional programme management skills and experience working in fast-paced environments.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of transformation programme/project management frameworks to create detailed plans, including key activities and milestones.
2. Support the prioritization of activities, quality business reviews, understand deliveries and challenges across different programmes.
3. Provide guidance to portfolio/programme/project managers in defining required scope, quality, cost, and effort.
4. Understand the impact of change requests on scope, time, budget, or effort and help identify new requirements for successful project delivery.
5. Oversight/supervision of progress against plans, looking ahead, and removing roadblocks to delivery.
6. Oversight of risks and issues through appropriate tracking and involving key members of the portfolio/programme/project team as necessary.
7. Track and report financial performance metrics and build budget control to manage expenses.
8. Develop a communication and reporting strategy, coordinate between stakeholders for progress reviews, key decisions, documentation, and approvals.
9. Proactively and effectively manage own time and workload, advocate to teams the importance of project pace to achieve successful delivery.
10. Establish and update quality procedures, manage internal ad-hoc quality audits, report quality variance, and suggest corrective actions.
11. Keep focus on medium and long-term goals and the Group's values, particularly when under short-term pressure.
12. Work with portfolio/programme/project managers to provide project governance and compliance, identifying and raising issues when necessary, monitoring tollgates and budgets.
13. Help ensure the portfolio/programme/project team follows all quality assurance processes, GTC frameworks, and uses standard tools.
14. Manage staffing requirements for programmes, map skill profiles, develop resource and skill augmentation strategies, identify right-shoring opportunities.
15. Be organized, plan work, and deliver on time/keep commitments.
16. Acknowledge high standards of professionalism in the quality of written and personal communication, especially in front of the business and delivery partners.
17. Help the portfolio/programme/project manager create a positive work environment for the project team.
18. Maintain personal and professional development, increasing professional knowledge and skills experience.
19. Demonstrate self-awareness of own strengths and weaknesses, seek feedback, and take responsibility for their own development.
20. Manage Programme and Projects Services Managers/Analysts in the team to ensure they deliver quality work and meet expectations of the programme.
21. Define KPI structure along with thresholds and work with the programme teams to integrate the same.
22. Drive action-oriented monthly portfolio delivery forums and work towards closing actions.
23. Drive NFR adoption across all programmes.
