Medical Diagnostic Specialist

This role contributes to community education, accessible healthcare, and social welfare by extending medical diagnostics and support services to underserved populations.

You will conduct diagnostic testing, ensure laboratory safety, maintain equipment, and bridge the gap between clinical teams and community health needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct a comprehensive range of diagnostic tests (haematology, microbiology, biochemistry, serology, urinalysis) in line with SOPs.
  • Perform phlebotomy safely and accurately.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab instruments for reliable test outcomes.
  • Deliver timely and accurate test results to clinical staff for diagnosis and patient management.
Quality & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with internal quality control and external quality assurance protocols as per national laboratory standards.
  • Follow biosafety and infection control protocols at all times.
  • Dispose of biohazard and laboratory waste properly.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Accurately record and maintain test logs and results.
  • Generate detailed reports on trends, anomalies, and usage for stakeholders.
Collaboration & Training
  • Work with clinical and administrative teams for integrated service delivery.
  • Assist in training junior lab personnel or interns.
  • Participate in evaluations, meetings, and health outreach activities.
Ethical Practice & Confidentiality
  • Adhere to ethical standards, ensuring patient privacy and local regulations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and discretion in communication and documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-4 years in clinical or diagnostic lab environments.
  • Professional certification is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with LIS is advantageous.
