Research Methodology Specialist

The ideal candidate will design, implement, and supervise research methodology for crop estimation, contributing to the development of the research methodology and strategy. They will collect and evaluate primary and secondary data, performing sanity checks on databases and external sources.

This role involves close monitoring of weather developments and long-term forecasts to update production estimates. The specialist will analyze trends, evaluate behaviors, and make appropriate conclusions, communicating the findings in a well-argued crop tour report.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a working knowledge of MS Office, and excellent business presentation skills in English. A master's degree in Agriculture, with a specialization in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or Horticulture, is required.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Crop Estimation Research Methodology:
  2. Design, implementation, and supervision of agreed research methodology for crop estimation.
  3. Contribution to the development of the research methodology and strategy.
  4. Continuous review of the methodology being applied in view of observations made during crop tours.
  5. Data Collection and Evaluation:
  6. Collection and evaluation of primary and secondary data.
  7. Performing sanity checks on databases and external sources to ensure consistency of data.
  8. Risk Assessment:
  9. Highlight the risks to the crop estimate by working out various scenarios.
  10. Assessment of the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities such as weather, pests, diseases, and changing costs or supply of inputs or labor.
  11. Communication:
  12. Close monitoring of weather developments and long-term forecasts to update production estimates.
  13. Analyze trends, evaluate behaviors, and make appropriate conclusions.
  14. Conduct detailed cost of production studies.
  15. Communication of the findings in the form of well-argued crop tour report.
