Asset Accountant Specialist

This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in fixed asset accounting and contribute to our organization's success. As an Asset Accountant Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing insightful financial information to stakeholders.

The role involves working closely with various teams to implement efficient fixed asset management processes, leveraging technology to enhance data accuracy and accessibility, and collaborating with external auditors to ensure seamless audit processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Record asset acquisitions, capitalizations, transfers, and disposals in compliance with accounting standards
  • Calculate and post monthly depreciation and ensure alignment with corporate policies and useful life schedules
  • Monitor and track capital work in progress (CWIP), and ensure timely capitalization upon project completion
  • Reconcile fixed asset sub-ledgers with the general ledger regularly
  • Support asset tagging and barcoding initiatives, if applicable
  • Coordinate and support physical verification of fixed assets in collaboration with internal teams and external auditors
  • Ensure proper classification of assets based on nature, usage, and cost center
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls related to asset movements and safeguarding
  • Process asset retirements, disposals, and prepare related accounting entries (e.g., gain/loss on sale)
  • Assist in the preparation of fixed asset schedules and reporting for audit and statutory purposes
  • Track and report on insurance coverage, asset impairments, and revaluations if applicable
  • Provide capital expenditure (CapEx) reports and assist in budget vs actual analysis
  • Collaborate with procurement and project teams for asset procurement and lifecycle management
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities and reporting
  • Contribute to the automation and improvement of fixed asset processes and internal reporting

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in ERP systems: Oracle / SAP / Microsoft Dynamics / QuickBooks
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations)
  • Working knowledge of depreciation methods, accounting for leases, and asset impairments
  • Familiar with fixed asset audits, physical verifications, and statutory reporting requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
  • ACCA / CA finalist or equivalent professional accounting certification (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in fixed asset accounting and reporting
  • Experience working in multi-entity, project-based, or construction/engineering environments is a plus
