We are seeking a skilled Senior Performance Engineer to join our team.

The role involves driving our performance engineering practice, ensuring optimal systems performance for our customers and development teams. This includes designing and executing performance tests, analyzing data to identify performance issues, recommending improvements, and working closely with developers and other stakeholders to establish strong discipline foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define SMART KPIs: Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for performance-based Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and ensure they are understood by all stakeholders involved.
  • Design Performance Tests: Create performance test scenarios, test data, automated test suites, and testing environments.
  • Establish Performance Engineering Approach: Strategically develop the best-in-class performance engineering approach for all software development teams, considering both short and long-term possibilities.
  • Influence Stakeholders: Influence customers and development teams to adopt recommended approaches and solutions.
  • Provide Structural Recommendations: Offer recommendations to ensure identified performance issues do not reoccur.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Tools: Keep up to date with performance engineering tooling and ensure all development teams use the latest tools.
  • Contribute to Discipline Development: Contribute to the performance engineering discipline, ensuring guidelines are interpreted correctly in all development teams.
  • Support Customer Escalations: Support and guide the resolution of performance-related customer escalations.
  • Implement Performance Testing Strategy: Implement a performance testing strategy and drive its execution.
  • Drive Performance Test Tooling: Implement performance test tooling and drive its adoption across teams.
  • Support Customers with Performance Testing: Drive and support customers with performance testing before go-live.
  • You will report to a Vice President of Engineering Services.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have several years of relevant experience in performance testing and engineering, along with an intrinsic drive to achieve the best software performance. A proactive mindset, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders are also essential. Experience with performance tools like Gatling, JMeter, Grafana K6, and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions/Jenkins is required. Additionally, experience with Spring framework, JVM tuning, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud technologies (with Azure expertise), relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL), and microservice systems (with Java expertise) is highly desirable. Lastly, openness to travel is expected.
