About this role

You will join our engineering team, helping to build and maintain the backend of a cashback loyalty program.

As part of the team, you will implement features and solve challenging problems in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve a robust and maintainable codebase for our backend service through design reviews, code reviews, unit tests, and regular retrospective meetings.
  • Identify and proactively address engineering challenges for the product, driving complex technical decisions together with your colleagues.
  • Have ownership in managing and extending our backend services, using technical expertise to contribute to building backend architecture and infrastructure at scale.
  • Partner with product, designers, and analytics to drive requirements that consider all parties' needs.
  • Support other team members in finding pragmatic solutions that can be implemented in a reasonable amount of time.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Familiarity with Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, and Elasticsearch.
  • Experience designing and building APIs with maintainability, scalability, and reliability in mind, including debugging SQL queries, implementing database optimisations, and refactoring large parts of the codebase.
  • Competency in working with external APIs and data sources for integration work.
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team, solving problems together and providing respectful feedback on code.
  • Proficiency in English and technical communication.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience with Docker, AWS, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to own and ship big projects end-to-end, making complex decisions based on business and technological impact.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum and some frontend technologies.
