We are looking for a Technical Content Writer to join our Organic Growth team at DigitalOcean, reporting to the Head of Organic Growth. This is a specialized technical writing role where you will be responsible for creating high-quality, deeply technical content that educates and informs developers, DevOps engineers, system administrators, and cloud professionals.

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of creating technical content specifically for the cloud computing and web hosting industries. You should have extensive competitive research experience, a strong grasp of coding, and the ability to produce content that includes actual code snippets, configurations, and implementation details.

Additionally, you must stay updated with the latest and upcoming technologies in the cloud and hosting space, conduct competitive analysis, and develop a content calendar that aligns with industry trends and user demand.
What You'll Be Doing:
Technical Content Creation & Research

• Produce highly technical content that covers every aspect of cloud computing, web hosting, and related technologies—including server configurations, performance optimizations, DevOps best practices, and coding.
• Conduct in-depth competitive research to identify gaps and opportunities for content development.
• Develop a content roadmap and calendar that aligns with emerging industry trends and updates.
• Write detailed technical tutorials, deep-dive analysis, and troubleshooting guides aimed at developers and IT professionals.
• Ensure that all content includes real-world technical examples, command-line instructions, code snippets, and implementation steps.

Industry Expertise & Continuous Learning

• Stay updated on cloud computing trends, hosting industry developments, and new software releases to ensure content remains accurate, relevant, and valuable.
• Research and write about topics such as WordPress, PHP, laravel, magento, cloud infrastructure, Linux servers, containerization, serverless computing, networking, security, and performance tuning.
• Understand and communicate complex concepts like load balancing, caching, auto-scaling, Kubernetes, and edge computing through technical content.

SEO & Content Optimization

• Collaborate with the SEO and Organic Growth teams to ensure technical content aligns with search intent and best practices.
• Optimize content for technical keywords, developer-focused search terms, and problem-solving queries.
• Ensure all content is structured for readability, includes proper internal linking, and is optimized for developer-focused platforms.

Collaboration & Cross-Team Communication

• Work closely with developers, engineers, product teams, and technical marketers to ensure content is both accurate and aligned with industry best practices.
• Gather insights from customer feedback, support teams, and real-world use cases to produce content that solves real technical challenges.
• Contribute to documentation efforts, providing technical content that supports product adoption and customer success.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in technical content writing with a focus on cloud computing and web hosting.
• Deep technical knowledge of cloud hosting, WordPress, Linux servers, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and web hosting technologies.
• Proven experience writing technical content with actual code examples, configurations, command-line instructions, and in-depth troubleshooting steps.
• Strong understanding of coding and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, PHP, JavaScript, or Go.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean, etc.), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and hosting environments (Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed).
• Ability to conduct independent research and produce content that is original, well-researched, and technically sound.
• Experience working with SEO teams to optimize technical content for search engines and developer-focused platforms.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex topics into actionable insights and step-by-step guides.
