Overview

Sage Freight seeks a Senior .NET Engineer to lead our Pakistan engineering team while building feedback loop tools and real-time operational dashboards for our operations floor. This role combines hands-on development with team mentorship, requiring expertise in distributed systems and a passion for developing others. You'll work on critical systems that provide visibility into our logistics operations while growing and guiding a talented development team.

Our current team exists of one QA Engineer and one Junior Software Engineer. This position reports to the US-based Senior Director of IT.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Development

• Lead design and development of feedback loop tools and real-time reporting systems for operations floor TVs and dashboards

• Architect scalable .NET solutions using distributed, message-driven architecture

• Build robust APIs and services using .NET WebAPI, MassTransit, and Azure Service Bus

• Design and optimize dual-database solutions with SQL Server and Cosmos DB

• Ensure system reliability through proper error handling, retry mechanisms, and monitoring

• Collaborate on React UI integration for modern dashboard interfaces

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering their technical growth

• Conduct code reviews in accordance with established best practices for the development team

• Lead technical discussions and architectural decision-making

• Facilitate knowledge sharing through documentation and team training sessions

• Support team members in overcoming technical challenges and career development

Operations & Collaboration:

• Partner with operations teams to understand reporting requirements and feedback loop needs

• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans

• Ensure high availability of critical operational reporting systems

• Participate in incident response and system troubleshooting when needed

• Hours of operation will coincide with the Brentwood, TN USA based team. These are typically 7am to 5pm CDT/CST.

Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of professional .NET development experience with expert-level knowledge of C#, .NET Core/.NET 6+, and WebAPI development

• Proven experience with distributed systems, message-driven architectures, and event-driven design

• Hands-on experience with MassTransit (consumers, saga patterns, publish/subscribe) and Azure Service Bus

• Strong SQL Server skills (complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning) and Cosmos DB experience

• Understanding of CQRS patterns, eventual consistency, idempotency, and distributed system challenges

• Proven mentorship experience with junior developers and strong English communication skills

• Experience with system design, architectural decision-making, and balancing technical debt with feature delivery

• Azure cloud services experience preferred; basic React knowledge helpful
