What You will do:

  • Design and implement AWS data lake and warehouse architectures (S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Redshift, Iceberg).
  • Define and manage schemas, metadata, lineage, and data dictionaries.
  • Build data pipelines with Spark, Glue, Kafka, Step Functions, or Airflow.
  • Ensure data quality, cleanliness, and observability across the platform.
  • Implement SOC 2 controls, audit logging, encryption, and compliance processes.
  • Draft PRDs, documentation, and technical specs for scrum teams.
  • Mentor engineers and enforce architecture/design standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics, and ML teams.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience: 4+ years in data engineering/architecture, with leadership exposure (Principal Architect, VP/CTO at a smaller firm, or Solutions Architect at a large firm).
  • AWS (Glue, Redshift, Lake Formation, IAM, KMS)
  • Big Data (Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Metadata & Governance (Glue Catalog, Apache Hive, Iceberg)
  • Data Warehousing (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery a plus)
  • Compliance: SOC 2, GDPR/CCPA, audit logging
  • Python + SQL expertise
  • Leadership & Product: PRDs, scrum enablement, documentation, cross-team communication.
