The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to lead the development of an AI-powered VSCode IDE plugin. This role demands strong technical expertise, deep ownership of features, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to bring innovative developer tools to life.

Key Responsibilities

Feature Ownership:
Take full ownership of the end-to-end development of new features for our VSCode extension, from technical specification to final release.

Architect and Build:
Design, develop, and maintain a robust, high-performance, and scalable frontend architecture for the VSCode plugin using TypeScript and the VSCode Extension API.

AI Integration:
Collaborate closely with our AI/ML team to integrate and interact with our backend AI services. You will work with communication protocols like REST and gRPC and help define and implement the model context protocol to ensure the AI has the right information to provide relevant suggestions.

User Experience:
Craft a polished and intuitive user interface within the VSCode environment, utilizing Webviews and other UI components to create a seamless and non-intrusive experience.

Cross-Team Collaboration:
Work effectively with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define product requirements, align on technical solutions, and deliver a cohesive product.

Increase Productivity:
Champion and utilize modern AI coding tools like Cursor to enhance your own and the team's productivity and stay at the cutting edge of development practices.

Mentorship & Best Practices:
Promote and uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and performance. Mentor other engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Product Mastery:
Develop a deep understanding of the product, our users, and the competitive landscape to contribute valuable insights to the product roadmap.

Qualifications & Skills

● 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend technologies.

● Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of their nuances and modern features (ES6+).

● Proven experience building complex and interactive user interfaces.

● Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.

● Experience with client-server communication and working with APIs (REST, gRPC).

● Exceptional problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.

● Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive projects to completion.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-team collaboration.

Nice to Have:

● Experience integrating with LLM-based tools or AI/ML APIs (e.g., OpenAI API, Hugging

Face, Anthropic).

● Familiarity with Monaco Editor, or other code editing frameworks.

● Contributions to open-source VSCode extensions.

● Knowledge of authentication and security best practices in developer tooling.
