Desktop Publisher

Role Overview: The Desktop Publisher/Graphic Designer will be responsible for designing and typesetting books, creating engaging posters, and producing a variety of print and digital graphics. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in Adobe InDesign, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for creating visually appealing, reader-friendly designs. Key Responsibilities:  Typeset and format books, reports, and long-form documents to professional publishing standards.  Design posters, flyers, and promotional materials that align with brand identity.  Prepare print-ready and digital-ready files for publishers, printers, and online platforms.  Collaborate with editors, writers, and project managers to ensure accuracy and consistency.  Maintain design templates, style guides, and layout standards across projects.  Ensure all designs are optimized for both print and digital use. Requirements:  Proven experience as a Desktop Publisher, Graphic Designer, or similar role.  Proficiency in Adobe InDesign (essential).  Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (preferred).  Excellent understanding of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.  Experience in book typesetting and long-document formatting.  Ability to balance creativity with precision and attention to detail.  Strong organizational and time management skills.  Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualities:  Experience working with publishing houses, NGOs, or educational institutions.  Familiarity with pre-press requirements and print production.  Creativity in conceptualising new layouts and visual ideas.
