Senior Manager, Accounts and Finance

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Accounts, will be a critical leader responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing the monthly close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. The successful candidate will drive process improvements, mentor a team of accounting professionals, and serve as a key resource for financial insights to the executive management team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the performance review and goal-setting process for direct reports.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient annual audit process.

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Direct and manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and local laws.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the General Ledger and ensure all account reconciliations are performed accurately and timely.
  • Review and approve complex journal entries, intercompany transactions, and accruals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll.
  • Manage fixed assets, inventory accounting, and cost accounting functions as applicable.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and operations (e.g., SOX compliance, if applicable).
  • Stay current on changes in accounting/Tax regulations and ensure the company's accounting practices are compliant.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies within the accounting function to reduce cycle times and improve data quality.
  • Document, review, and update accounting policies and procedures.

Analysis & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with the Finance and Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and present key financial reports and analyses to the CEO and Head of Accounts and Finance.
  • Support due diligence efforts, special projects, and system implementations as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACCA, CA (Finalist), CMA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Deep expertise in IFRS, Income Tax and PRA Sales Tax.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, QBO, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).

Preferred

  • Experience working in a Hospitality Sector.
  • Experience with a major system implementation or upgrade.
