Reports to: Program Manager, School Eye Screening Program
Location: Various school sites, community locations, hospital liaison locations
Working Days: Monday to Saturday
Occasional Work: Sundays or other holidays may occasionally require work, and will be compensated either with an alternate leave day or cash. The working hours for Sundays or holidays may be adjusted, but the total working hours will remain the same.
Timing: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Transport: Transport will be provided from our base camp in Malir to different school and community locations in Karachi.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Eye Screenings: Perform comprehensive eye examinations for students, teachers, and non-teaching staff as part of the School Eye Screening Program.
- Diagnose Visual Impairments: Identify and diagnose refractive errors, amblyopia, and other vision impairments. Refer individuals who need corrective lenses or further medical evaluation.
- Referral for Advanced Care: Coordinate referrals for advanced care, such as surgery or specialized treatment, in cases that require further ophthalmological attention.
- Record Maintenance: Keep accurate and detailed records of all screenings, diagnoses, and referrals. Maintain the integrity of patient data and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Liaise with Medical Professionals: Collaborate with hospitals and medical professionals to organize and coordinate treatment for individuals referred for surgery or advanced care.
- Post-Screening Care: Provide follow-up care and recommendations to students, staff, and community members with visual impairments, ensuring they receive the necessary support post-screening.
- Community Eye Camps: Assist in organizing and conducting eye screening camps in various community settings, including Goths, companies, localities, public spaces, seniors' homes, and others, ensuring comprehensive eye care for all.
- Health Education: Educate students, teachers, staff, and community members on the importance of eye health, emphasizing the prevention of visual impairments and the significance of regular eye check-ups.
- Public Outreach & Media Representation: Represent Vision for Education Foundation (V4E) in media appearances, social media engagements, and interviews. You should be media-friendly and confident in speaking in front of the camera, contributing to promotional efforts on platforms such as social media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Optometry or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in pediatric optometry, preferably in a public health setting.
- Skills:
- Strong diagnostic skills in eye health.
- Experience in working with children and adolescents.
- Ability to liaise effectively with hospitals, medical professionals, and stakeholders.
- Media-friendly with strong verbal communication skills, able to confidently speak in front of the camera for social media and promotional content.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct public education on eye health.
Additional Information:
- This position requires travel to multiple school sites and community locations within the program's coverage area.
- Candidates must be comfortable working with children, adults, and seniors of all genders.

Pay: Rs40, Rs45,000.00 per month
