Reports To: Café Manager / Head Chef

Job Summary:

Bistro Noir Café is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Storekeeper to manage inventory, receive and organize supplies, and ensure the smooth operation of our back-of-house storage systems. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining the quality and availability of ingredients and supplies that support our daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and record deliveries of food, beverages, and other supplies.
• Ensure that all items are stored properly in designated storage areas (dry store, cold storage, etc.).
• Maintain accurate stock records using manual logs and/or digital systems.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify management of shortages or overstock situations.
• Conduct regular stock counts and assist with monthly inventory reports.
• Ensure all storage areas are clean, organized, and meet food safety standards.
• Track expiry dates and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO).
• Work closely with the kitchen and procurement teams to forecast and fulfill stock needs.
• Dispose of damaged or expired items following food safety protocols.
• Assist in placing orders and receiving returns when necessary.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a storekeeper, stock controller, or similar role (preferably in a food & beverage setting).
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Physically able to lift and move stock as needed.
• Reliable, honest, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Food Safety Certification is a plus.
