About The Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team of 6-8 AI engineers and research scientists, directly shaping the future of Motive's road and driver safety perception technology, developing industry-leading ADAS-like features such as forward collision warning, collision detection, unsafe lane changes, distracted driving, etc. Your primary mission will be to transform cutting-edge AI research into robust, production-ready features, driving the development lifecycle from initial concept through to successful in-field deployment and continuous optimization.
You won't just manage; you'll inspire, mentor, and empower. This role demands a leader who thrives on both technical depth and people development. You will be the linchpin ensuring our ADAS-like AI functionalities are not only delivered on schedule but also set new benchmarks for quality, reliability, and performance in real-world conditions. If you are ready to make a significant technical contribution, build an exceptional team, and deliver AI products that redefine user experience and safety, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 6-8 AI engineers and scientists, fostering a collaborative, focused, and high-performing environment.
- Actively coach and grow individual contributors, providing constructive feedback, managing performance, and supporting their technical improvement and career development.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and shared responsibility.
- Take an active and hands-on role in roadmap planning, technical decision-making, and providing expert guidance for the development of AI/ADAS-like features.
- Drive the design, development, and deployment of robust AI models for critical functions like lane keeping, collision warning, and trajectory prediction.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from research to in-field deployment, ensuring features meet quality, performance, and reliability standards in production.
- Stay at the forefront of AI, machine learning, computer vision, and ADAS technologies, integrating relevant advancements into our product strategy.
- Develop, enforce, and continuously improve engineering processes and best practices across the team to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Effectively communicate with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Hardware, etc.), influencing product strategy, technical architecture decisions, and process-related choices.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related quantitative field. Ph.D. is a plus.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Computer Vision and/or Machine Learning, with a deep understanding of training and deploying Machine/Deep Learning models.
- 2+ years of recent engineering management experience leading an AI/ML focused team of 6+ engineers.
- Proven track record of successfully launching and operating Computer Vision or Machine Learning applications at scale.
- A deep understanding of the process and challenges involved in building and maintaining large-scale ML products, especially those requiring high reliability and performance in the field.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, coach, and grow engineering talent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience in ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) or Autonomous Driving is a strong plus.
Bonus Points
- Experience with sensor fusion (e.g., camera, radar, lidar data).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for MLOps and model deployment.
- Familiarity with real-time embedded systems or automotive-grade software development.
Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.
