Qualification
Bachelor's degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience
Proven experience in construction surveying, preferably in the mining sector.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, Trimble Business Center, Leica).
  • Proficiency in surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS receiver/controllers, levels, LiDAR
  • Strong understanding of geodesic principles and mining operations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed land surveys to determine precise measurements and layouts for construction projects within the mining site.
  • Establish reference points and markers for excavation and construction activities, ensuring accurate alignment and compliance with design specifications.
  • Utilize advanced surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations, and laser scanners) to gather and analyze topographic and geodetic data.
  • Calculate earthworks volumes and areas to facilitate project planning and cost estimation, ensuring accuracy in material requirements.
  • Maintain up to date as-built records by collecting and documenting survey data throughout the construction process.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and geologists to provide critical survey information that supports design modifications and construction decisions.
  • Ensure all survey activities adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and maps, including KML files for GIS applications, to communicate survey findings and project progress to stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks on survey data and methodologies to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior survey staff, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices within the team.
  • Assisting the survey team with point pick-ups, set-outs, and general field work as required.
